The area around Garmisch-Partenkirchen packs a lot of Bavaria's Alpine drama into one weekend. The Partnachklamm is a roaring gorge carved into the rock, the Eibsee glows turquoise beneath the Zugspitze, and Neuschwanstein castle looks straight out of a fairytale.
